In the 15th and final class session for the fall, 2009 term, we examine both documentary and conceptual photography, looking at the motivation and rationale behind each avenue of image making. We also try to tie up the ideas of the course with some concluding remarks.

I’ll be honest, with the first few examples of concept art I was thoroughly unimpressed–as you mentioned I might be. So much so, I ranted about it on my blog at http://bloritsch.d-haven.net. Then when I forced myself to finish, there were actually some very compelling images later.
I have a bias against left-brained “art”, which was the 20th century offering in the music world (from my music history class at Full Sail Real World Education). However, there were several examples of visually interesting concept art introduced later on the topic. Well worth the listen.
Glad you found at least a bit of “explanation” there… As I sometimes say… I don’t invent the history… I just report on where it got us to.
